SEASON 4 TRAILER EXCLUSIVE
“Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” lore questions have yet to be answered, but the game’s developer, Scott Cawthon, has provided a few cryptic clues to solving them in recent “FNaF World” teasers. He also discussed his next game’s deep story and its potential for secrets!
The Scott Games website has been overrun with new teaser posts over the past few hours, and the most interesting ones make a litany of text statements to “Five Nights At Freddy’s” fans. The images read as follows: “four games. One story,” “what is seen in the shadows is easily misunderstood in the mind of a child,” and “in the FNaF 4 minigame, why would the tiny Toy Chica be missing her beak.” These hints were quickly removed and replaced by a static “FNaF World” character teaser.
Since their appearance, the “Five Nights At Freddy’s” Reddit community has been tearing the words apart in an attempt to find some answers. With regard to the “four games, one story” mantra, it’s believed to confirm that the main narrative of the “Five Nights At Freddy’s” story conveys a single message about one character or event.
In the scope of the larger lore, many Scott Cawthon fanatics are still in heated debate over whether “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” shows the Bite Of ’87 or a previously unknown Bite Of ’83. These words may confirm that “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” takes place in 1987, which has been a year of focus since the beginning, and that Scott didn’t add another incident to his single established timeline just to confuse us.
The phrase might also be a rebuttal to MatPat’s recent Game Theory episode that posits the idea of “Five Nights At Freddy’s” lore not having a single correct solution. By saying that there’s “one story,” Cawthon seems to suggest that there is one concrete truth to be told. It just hasn’t been discovered yet.
The Chica teaser statement is equally as perplexing. In “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” mini-games, a girl is seen with a Chica doll that has its beak detached. Community theorists have been keen to note that only the Toy Chica animatronic of “Five Nights At Freddy’s 2” can remove its mouth. That means the doll the girl is playing with could be modeled off the animatronic from that era. As many fans will know, “Five Nights At Freddy’s 2” takes place in 1987. Ergot, this could be yet another clue that “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” is set during that year.
Not much has been discussed about seeing things in the shadows, but it’s possible that the crying child character of “Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” has misinterpreted some of the horrific things he has allegedly seen. This might relate to main narrative’s string of child murders or even the animatronic shadows he refuses to pass in a few of its mini-games. More investigation on that matter is likely to come.
Despite bringing up that older narrative, Scott is currently in the midst of coding an entirely new RPG game called “FNaF World.” If recent statements from the developer are any indication, however, the very different title will still carry the same lore hooks as its predecessors. In recent Steam posts, Scott has confirmed that “FNaF World” will have a similarly “hidden story” and secret characters too. We’ll know more about the project as teasers emerge.
“Five Nights At Freddy’s 4” is available now on PC and mobile devices. “FNaF World” will come to those same platforms at a later date.
What do you think these question teasers mean? What might “FNaF World’s” hidden story contain? Tell us in the poll and comments section!
